Treatment ManualMulti-Color Silk Screen Printing AJU MCM. Co., Ltd.

1. Outline
AJU MCM multi-colored metal sheet has superior physical-, chemical properties with multi-layered paint and ink designs.
However, the following precautions should be taken in handling, using and storing our products to maintain the intended properties and prevent any damages.
This manual will be used as a guideline for the safe storage and handling of materials when manufacturing and installing the fire doors, furniture and interior/exterior construction products.
2. Precautions on Storage
  1. 1) Store the products in a well-ventilated indoor area at room temperature out of direct sunlight.
All surfaces must be free from dust, moisture, and any other foreign substances. Keep low humidity. Take special care in rainy season. (Outdoor storage and loading are not recommended, because rusting and film detachment may be caused by dew condensation due to drastic changes in temperature)
    * Storage condition/duration: 25℃, dry indoor, within six months
  2. When the products loaded with moisture, film deterioration may occur such as discoloration, whitening, swelling, rusting and peeling off. Excessive weight loading may accelerate the problem.
9 tons (3 pallets or less, 1 pallet: approx. 3 tons) can be loaded in maximum weight, but loading up to 2 pallets is recommended.
  3. 3) If exposed to direct light, the adhesive of the protection film may be transferred to the printed surface, causing damage to the printed surface, weakening of the protection film, and increasing adhesive strength, which makes it difficult to remove the protection film after manufacturing and installment of the products.
  4. 4) Before manufacturing, check for rusting or whitening on the edges and back of materials; if any defect is found, suspend use and contact MCM Tec's sales/quality control team before making decisions on use of such materials.
  5. 5) Store manufactured or processed products indoors.
Outdoor storage especially in summer season may cause the same problems mentioned in 2-2) and 3) due to excessive increase in temperature of the products
  6. 6) Stacking of products in multiple layers(three layers or less recommended) may cause skid marks on printed steel sheets; insert rubber pads between layers.
  7. 7) Avoid excessive stacking or it may cause squeezing of protection films; the adhesive of the protection film may be transferred to other parts or the protection film not easily removed after manufacturing and installment of the products.
  8. 8) To minimize the harmful effects of unavoidable outdoor storage, cover the products with a sheet(for example, vinyl tarp) to keep from rain. After rain increase circulation, and keep well ventilated to prevent rusting caused by condensation (When exposed to rainwater, use the products within 10 days).
  9. 9) To obtain the intended properties, keep first in first out based inventory control.
  10. 10) Longer storage periods of six months or more may result in dust accumulation or surface dents from loading.
3. Precautions on Handling
  1. 1) When unloading or transporting printing metal sheets, the foot of the forklift or the center of gravity should be placed at the center of the pallet in order to prevent any twists, dents and bending of the metal sheets.
  2. 2) When unloading or transporting multi-colored metal sheets, make sure that the transportation equipment or the foot/body of the forklift does not touch the products or it may cause damage.
  3. 3) Put on protection equipment and use safe-handling devices for carrying, transporting or manufacturing the products.
  4. 4) Once unpacked, use the entire package of multi-colored metal sheets as soon as possible. (After unpacking, storage for a long time may cause damage to the surface or cross-section corrosion)
  5. 5) Do not use oily or contaminated gloves to handle the products.
  6. 6) Use anti-corrosive tools(zinc-plated, stainless, etc.) to handle them.
  7. 7) Make sure two or more people carry steel sheets to prevent dragging on the ground. Raise each sheet with special care to prevent scratching.
  8. 8) When repair coating is required for minor scratches during handling, use only the touch-up ink recommended by the company.
  9. 9) To remove contaminants on the surface with the protection film uncovered, wipe the surface with a gauze or soft-textured cloth after applying a proper solvent or neutral detergent.
    • - Use: Neutral detergent, kerosine, methanol
    • - Don't use: M.E.K, TCE(Trichloroethylene), benzene, toluene, acetone, thinner
4. Precautions on Processing
  1. 1) Before manufacturing, check for whitening of the film or rusting on the edges and back of the steel sheets; if any defect is detected, suspend use and contact MCM Tec's sales/quality control team before making decisions on using them.
  2. 2) Storage at extremely low temperatures especially in winter season may cause whitening and film cracking during bending processes; warm the materials to room temperature (20-25°C) before processing.
*Before processing, multi-colored metal sheets and processing machines(molding, press, forming, bending machines, and etc.) should be warmed up enough to reach the equilibrium state; keeping at an extremely low temperature and then warming for a short time will lead to cracking and whitening.
  3. 3) If problems in 4-2)or surface peeling-off and color difference are detected, suspend processing and contact MCM Tec's sales/quality control team.
  4. 4) Since MCM Tec's product has thick membrane with protection films attached, using the same alignment while roll forming as in zinc-coated steel sheets and colored steel sheets may cause the protection film wind itself around the roll; make sure to re-adjust the clearance.
  5. 5) Keep the surface of the forming machine always clean; soft cotton flannel is recommended for cleaning the section that contacts the material. Make sure that foreign substances are not present between the mold and the material's surface.
  6. 6) After applying the filler material, keep consistent temperature, time and pressure to maintain constant adhesion of the protection film during the heating/pressing process.
  7. 7) After cutting a multi-colored metal sheet or boring bolt holes, make sure the remaining metal shards are completely removed so that they may not damage the surface of the product while loading and transporting or cause rusting when exposed to moisture after construction.
  8. 8) The company's multi-colored metal sheet is not easy to touch up when the surface is damaged(especially when scratched); take special care while processing.
  9. 9) Make sure that the subsidiary materials used in post processes are tested before application to determine material suitability.
For example, packaging tapes and paperboards may affect printing films and cause partial discoloration.
  10. 10) Regardless of the properties of printing metal sheets, make sure workers handle the processed goods with care while transporting, installing and after installing.
    - Printing metal sheets are frequently produced in small batches due to defects that have nothing to do with their properties.
  11. 11) To prevent occurrence of different colors, use multi-colored metal sheets from the same lot. (There can be a fine difference in colors between each lot.)
5. Other Precautions
  1. 1) Do not remove the protection film before usage.
  2. 2) After use, make sure the remaining products are stored by covering with a wrapping paper; do not use contaminated paper or hard-surfaced boards.
  3. 3) Never step or walk on metal sheets with (dirty) shoes on before and after use.
  4. 4) Do not use multi-colored metal sheets for other purposes(flooring, outdoor, etc.) than as interior surface finishing materials (Products for outdoor use can be ordered and supplied separately).
  5. 5) Keep the printing surface out of fire in activities such as welding, or it may cause damage.
  6. 6) Wear safety goggles and protective equipment when molding and cutting metals.
  7. 7) Using acidic or alkaline detergent may affect printing films and cause discoloration or damage to them; after applying a detergent rinse off the surface immediately with enough water.
  8. 8) Take special care when cleansing metal sheets using tools or machines, or it may strain and damage films.
